Project Uncleby Chapel, York

A redundant agricultural building and former Methodist chapel formed the nucleus of an enlightened project to transform them into a children’s educational centre for the study of all things rural.

Previously inhabited only by pigeons, the buildings were brought back into use by sensitive conversion and re-building with high levels of insulation to minimise heating costs. An extension to the rear houses a new reception area giving access to the classroom space, kitchen & lavatories.

The project was part funded by Natural England and officially opened by HRH the Prince of Wales.
